Integrated Mobility Program

The Traveller Opinion Survey - Now Closed.

Thanks to everyone who responded to our online survey and shared how you move through the region & how satisfied you are with our existing sustainable transportation network (transit, walking/rolling & bicycling). Your feedback will help us learn more about how citizens travel, and understand what motivates people to use sustainable transportation modes. With this information we can recommend improvements to our transportation network.

The survey is now closed. Stay tuned for our "What we Heard" survey synopsis.

Background

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) (PDF) was unanimously approved by Halifax Regional Council on December 5, 2017 (see approved motion). View the IMP council presentation December 5, 2017 Committee of the Whole Agenda.

The Integrated Mobility Plan (IMP) creates a vision for moving around the Halifax region and helps direct future investment in transportation demand management, transit, active transportation, and the roadway network it seeks to improve the links between residents and their communities.

The Integrated Mobility Plan stems from municipal policy direction in the Regional Plan for public transit and transportation, land use and growth centres, including the following:

  • providing a choice of integrated and connected travel options emphasizing public and community based transit, active transportation, carpooling and other viable alternatives to the single occupant vehicle;
  • Promote community development and design that supports affordable and sustainable transportation options;
  • Plan for our future transportation infrastructure needs; and,
  • Design complete streets for all ages, abilities and travel options.
