Wednesday, December 6, 2017 will mark the 100-year anniversary of the Halifax Explosion. The municipality is currently planning, along with the Halifax Explosion Anniversary Advisory Committee, various initiatives to commemorate the Halifax Explosion.

In October 2015, Regional Council passed a motion to have a commemorative emblem developed for use as a visual identity and recognition of the projects surrounding the 100th anniversary. The emblem will reflect the municipality’s commitment to the significance of this commemoration and will be featured at special events, projects and official communications in the year leading up to and during 2017.
