Do you think better signage is needed to help navigate the Halifax region while cycling, walking or rolling? If so, we would like your feedback! By highlighting distances and directions to key locations, the Active Transportation Wayfinding Pilot Project aims to improve navigation along walking and cycling routes. The wayfinding signage developed for this pilot project is based on Bicycle Nova Scotia's Wayfinding Guide.

New pedestrian and bicycle signage has been installed along the following routes:

- Chain of Lakes Trail (pictured right)

- Mainland North Trail

- Sackville Greenway

- Alderney Landing

- Vernon / Seymour Local Street Bikeway

From October 2021 - August 2022, public feedback was collected regarding:

  • How satisfied you are with the signage installed at the above locations and what suggestions you may have for changes
  • Where more signage can be installed to help residents navigate while cycling, walking or rolling

Although the public survey is no longer open for comment, please contact Chloe Kennedy at kennedchl@halifax.ca if you have any feedback about the wayfinding signage program. Survey results and public feedback is being incorporated into the design and delivery of the permanent wayfinding signage program moving forward.
