How much growth?

The Primary Growth Areas are meant to hold 28% of growth occurring in the Regional Centre. The three “Growth Scenarios” show different ways of spreading the growth amongst different building forms, in each of the Primary Growth Areas.

The Scenarios

  1. Scenario One would see most of the growth (75%) in moderately scaled buildings, and a small amount in tall buildings (25%).

  2. Scenario Two would have an even mix, with 50% of growth in moderately scaled buildings, and 50% in tall buildings.

  3. Scenario Three would see only a small amount of the growth (25%) in moderately scaled buildings, and most of the growth (75%) in tall buildings.

Note that because tall buildings accommodate more growth, where there are more tall buildings, there are fewer buildings needed overall. That could mean preserving more of the existing streetscape.
