Gray Arena Site

The Gray Arena site, at the corner of Monique Avenue and Farthington Place in Dartmouth, has been deemed surplus and the municipality wants to hear your ideas for its future re-use.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to share your thoughts through our online survey. The survey is now closed and we will be adding your feedback to our report.

If you have questions, please contact Leticia Simile at 902-490-4083 or send an email to smillil@halifax.ca

Our goal with collecting this feedback is to gather your ideas for the future of the site, understand the wants and needs of residents, come up with options, and report back to Regional Council. Council will then decide on what happens next and will take your feedback into account.

All ideas are welcome! We will make sure that the Council and other decision-makers hear what you have to say.

About the Gray Arena Site

The Gerald B. Gray Memorial Arena was built in 1975 and contains a former ice rink. The building is costly to maintain and may need to be demolished to make way for new uses of the land. The site is 4.7 acres with access off Monique and Farthington. We are asking you to imagine the future of the whole site and the different parts of it.

The site is currently zoned P (Park), which only permits park and recreation uses. But don’t let this current zoning limit your ideas, as it may be possible to change the zone to make way for new uses, such as housing, commercial space, and community uses.

We look forward to hearing your feedback.
