Why is the active transportation greenway recommended to be located along Lucasville Road?

The Lucasville Road encompasses residents along Lucasville Road. It reaches the services in Sackville, growing subdivisions, the Wallace Lucas Community Centre, as well as the church and small businesses in the community of Lucasville.

    What is the timeline?

There is no current set timeline. After functional planning is wrapped up, which consists of a 30 per cent design stage, municipal staff will need to address planning challenges, and do further consultation with community and stakeholders.  Once a priority segment has a completed detailed design, it would then go through our municipal budget proposal process.

The proposed Lucasville Greenway consists of four segments from north to south, along the Lucasville Road. It is proposed that each segment be built in different phases as each has its own challenges and exciting traits.

Two main sections are under planning and review:

Segment 1: from Old Sackville Drive to Bryanston Road

Segment 2: from Bryanston Road to Waterstone Run

The municipality's Transportation and Public Works team is assessing road and bridge rehabilitation on Lucasville Road as well as addressing asphalt maintenance in the interim as future integration opportunities may include both AT and road construction infrastructure.

All proposed projects are subject to Regional Council approval.
