    The Halifax Green Network Plan (HGNP) is a strategic planning document that is reviewing all forms of green space in the region to guide municipal decisions related to land-use planning, park network management, infrastructure, among other items.

    The municipality has completed several phases of the strategic planning process including extensive research and public consultation. The final HGNP is targeted for public release and Regional Council review in spring 2018.

    Planning is underway to add bike lanes and sections of shared-lane pavement markings on Almon Street to enhance safety and to continue the implementation of a network of bicycle routes in the municipality. Members of the municipality's Active Transportation team expect to provide an update to Regional Council in spring 2018.

In 2013 Regional Council initiated a planning process to establish comprehensive planning policies that enable additional commercial and residential developments on the lands located within Dutch Village Road and neighbouring areas.
