    Corner of Morris and Hollis
    previous next
These six abutting row houses, c. 1858, form a terrace along the slope of Morris Street between Hollis and Lower Water Street. The buildings were constructed in the “Halifax House style” and all structures are similar in style with a few variations. The Halifax House styled buildings are more commonly found as stand alone buildings rather than in a row house or terrace house arrangement. All buildings have truncated gable roofs with five-sided Scottish dormers on the front and back. They are arranged as three mirror-image pairs, two-and-a-half storeys high with wooden shingles and six-over-six windows. The buildings include side hall entrances with transom windows and sidelights. The entablatures under the eaves are supported by pilasters.
