Consultation has concluded. Changes to the Public Appointment Policy were adopted by Regional Council on August 14, 2018.

The Public Appointment Policy guides the application and appointment process for municipal boards, committees, and commissions.

Its two main functions are:

  • To provide a guide to Council and staff to ensure consistency, integrity and fairness in the appointment process
  • To provide information about how the process works for residents

These boards, committees, and commissions are groups consisting of Councillors, residents, and industry representatives that provide advice and recommendations to Regional Council, community council, or standing committees on certain matters. Each has a specific area of focus and terms of reference that guide the work it does.

Written in 2011, the current Public Appointment Policy is in need of revision. We have already gathered feedback from our volunteers, and would like to hear from the public about how they view and process and policy. Your feedback will help to shape the revised policy.
